POSITION: PROJECT MANAGER
Project Manager needed to perform the following duties:
Manage TLS project to disable old in-transit cryptographic protocol and update the .NET version for VITA (Virginia Information Technology Agency)
Conduct project requirement workshops with Operations and Risk Business Stakeholders to document Business Case and Project Charter document for TLS project.
Define the implementation steps with the team that includes (i) Installation of the .Net 4.7.2 on servers with the reboot (ii) Request for registry changes at server level (iii) Validate the TLS unavailability on the servers (iv) Request for updating the Web Services (v) Bring the QA team to check the functioning of Public and VITA in-house applications. (vi) To check the security, initiate security scan with the Security department for both public and private scans. Make sure that the TLS unavailability has been made without any security issues.
In this process, create Charter and roadmap for the TLS project including major milestones and release schedule on VITA calendar.
Define a Project Plan to include project schedule, cost management plan, resource plan, scope management plan and work breakdown structure (WBS) for each release in Microsoft Project Planner.
Conduct engagement sessions with member Application Owners within VITA and outside VITA (SAIC) to coordinate development and testing with member systems and making sure that TLS project is seamlessly integrated with member systems.
Support and Coordinate the production deployment activities for each release.
In the project phases, make sure that issues and risks are captured and mitigated well enough.
Prepare all the required Software Development Life Cycle documents like Project Charter, Business and Functional Requirements, Requirements Sign-off document, Baseline document, Change Management Plan, Risk Management Plan, Preliminary Architecture of the project, Test Plan, Security Calendar, Implementation Plan and Roll out plan, Minutes of the meeting, Action Items are created and maintained.
Document Project Closure and lessons learned document to identify what delivery processes can be improved in future.
At the end of the project move the entire project SDLC document to the Project SharePoint for audit purposes.
VITA Mainframe Shutdown “Account Code Management” use SDLC methodologies including Waterfall Project Management Methodology
Project kick-off meeting with key stakeholders, High level discussions on the Project charter.
Define the scope of the project
Make sure that the third parties are involved in the VITA Mainframe systems like, other state Agencies, Business partners like SAIC and Perspecta
Explain the problem statement to arrive at the acceptable way of handling the stated business problems
Hold required project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
VITA websites Content Management using SDLC methodologies including Waterfall Project Management Methodology.
Identify the stakeholders and develop understanding on high level project / program requirement
Define project approach for bringing all the stakeholders of VITA to make sure the state run website goes through content management.
This process has gone through the Project Management way of handling the business for the first time ever.
Define and share the scope of work with the resources, Develop timeline for various tasks that are required to be prepared. Set Metrics for each task that will be performed by the teams, Plan Communication Management within and across teams, Plan Risk Management
Measure the completion of the tasks by project team against the reports performed against the requirement,
Check for report delivery time to ascertain timely delivery of reports, Status of reports on a regular basis with respect to progress and completion percentage
Work with technical team to create a platform for the exercise to be executed with the key stakeholders
Work on Improvement to business processes and support critical business strategies by making sure that technical project are delivered in given time and budget.
Identify and lead the improvements to technical projects.
Brainstorm any issues that the project comes across with the core team and apply the best results to get the results effectively and efficiently.
Analyze the best possible Audit app that the team could use for the VITA Content Audit that will better suit the latest needs of VITA customers. This will need both functional and technical analysis.
Translate the key performance measures of the Portfolio Management System of VITA and develop high-level metrics report that is required to measure the progress of all the VITA run projects. These reports were done at the Portfolio level and included analysis of staffing and utilization of resources in all the project.
Develop metrics analysis and reports for VITA Portfolio.
Design staffing plans for the whole Portfolio.
Bachelor’s Degree required in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Information Technology Management or Management Information Systems.
